Equality news from America's hinterlands

Duluth, MN, the delightful Lake Superior city that is part rust-belt and part liberal woodsy/tourist destination has taken another step towards equality for its residents.

Effective in June, 2009, by city ordinance Duluthians will be able to register their domestic partnerships. It's a small step, and fairly symbolic - though it will help some folks prove their status for partner benefits in situations such as employment, medical directives and such.

Another little crack in the anti-marriage wall.

Peace.

(ps: no sarcasm about Duluth being delightful. It is one of my very favorite small-midsize towns in America!)
