A Hero Falls

One of my all-time heroes, Molly Ivins, died today. Ever since my days reading the Austin-American Statesman starting in 1989, I've been impressed with the chutzpah she consistently showed, and the way she used populism to actually fight for the little guy, not as a different way to hoodwink him.

And she was always damn funny doing it.

Molly also showed how wimpy and subservient most print journalists and pundits were through the first several years of our 'adventure' in Iraq.

Sadly, W. will just not quite be held to the same level of account, now that she is gone. But someday if W. ends up having an afterlife, I'm pretty sure Molly will stop by to have a few choice words for him...

peace.
